About Kean

Hi, I’m Kean — founder of Still Hound, a Bay Area dog trainer and walker. Before this, I worked as a paramedic, where I was first inspired by the incredible bond between search and rescue dogs and their handlers. That experience shaped how I approach training: clear communication, structure, and reliability under real-world pressure.

I am a member of Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers and continue to develop my work through that system. My approach combines structured obedience with practical, everyday application—whether on leash, off leash, or in social environments.

I focus as much on coaching owners as training dogs. You learn how to engage your dog, communicate clearly, and become a calm, consistent leader your dog wants to follow. The result is a dog that is motivated, attentive, and reliable because the relationship supports the training.

Alongside client work, I’ve trained my own border collie, Shelby, to be a focused, off-leash companion in high-distraction settings. I apply the same standards to every dog I work with, building calm, engaged behavior that holds up outside of training sessions.

What clients are saying.

My dog loves spending time with Kean and always comes back tired and well behaved. He’s like a dog whisperer! Kean provides good structure and positive reinforcement. I can’t recommend him enough!

These hikes are the highlight of our dog Charlie’s week. Ever since we had a kid, our dog was not getting out as much as we would have liked. Hiring Still Hound was such a great decision and it’s clear that Charlie is happier and better behaved when he’s gotten time with Kean and enough exercise.

What we appreciated most about Kean's traing style: how calm and clear from the start these sessions are - firm without being harsh, instructive without being overwhelming. Our dog responded to him immediately, and we closed out the sessions with practical tools we could actually use at home.
