Why are Pack Walks important?

Pack walks are one of the most natural and beneficial activities you can offer your dog. Moving together as a group satisfies a dog’s instinct to travel and socialize within a stable pack structure. It promotes calm, balanced behavior by reinforcing communication, trust, and impulse control. Off-leash pack walks build confidence in shy dogs, provide focus for high-energy dogs, and teach social cues that can’t be learned in isolation. Regular exposure to different dogs, environments, and leadership helps reduce reactivity and anxiety—resulting in a more fulfilled, well-adjusted companion at home.

Our off-leash pack hikes take place on designated East Bay trails and are limited to a maximum of six dogs at a time to ensure safety, structure, and individual attention. We are fully insured and permitted through East Bay Regional Park District. Each hike includes pickup, drop-off, and a one-hour off-leash group hike.

Dogs must have reliable recall and be able to follow basic verbal commands in distracting environments before joining the pack. High-value single-ingredient treats are used throughout hikes to reinforce engagement, recall, and calm group behavior. A minimum commitment of two days per week is required to help maintain consistency and pack stability.

If your dog is not yet ready for off-leash hiking, we also offer one-on-one training to help develop the recall, engagement, and reliability needed to safely participate.
